Over £13m of sales were made under the group’s Spode and Royal Worcester brands – an increase from the £12m referred to in the company’s December trading update.

The company also says that pre-tax profit for the year should be in line with the revised market expectations: in the December update it predicted that profits would be “significantly ahead” of expectations.

Last year’s sales were particularly good in the US, South Korea, Canada and Italy, with Spode Christmas Tree performing notably well in the US and Sophie Conran for Portmeirion products excelling worldwide.

This year, Portmeirion will be launching over 250 new products across its Portmeirion, Spode, Royal Worcester and Pimpernel brands. These will include a collection of Royal Worcester items to commemorate April’s royal wedding.

Portmeirion Group’s preliminary results for the year will be announced on March 23.
