Record-breaking revenues trigger investment at Portmeirion Group

In its latest trading update, the Stoke-based company announced that it expects to report record revenues for 2014 of over £61 million – approximately 5% above last year. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Portmeirion Group has achieved record sales. Strong trading through the final quarter of 2014 and a demand for British-made products are credited for helping to boost profits.

Dick Steele, non-executive chairman at Portmeirion Group, commented: “I’m delighted with the achievement of another record level of sales. Our confidence in the future of the business is underlined by the additional investment announced today.”

News of the job creation follows a series of successful recruitment days held last Autumn, which gave prospective employees the opportunity to learn more about what the Group – including its brands Portmeirion, Spode, Royal Worcester and Pimpernel – has to offer as an employer. In 2014 more than 100 new employees were recruited, establishing Portmeirion Group as one of the largest employers in the Potteries.

Preliminary results for the year ended December 31 2014 will be announced on March 12 2015.
