The nation’s chart of top 10 best-selling non-fiction hardbacks is dominated by cookbooks – and Rick Stein’s latest title is still in first place.
‘Rick Stein’s ‘India: In Search of the Perfect Curry’ ties in with the chef’s TV series which comprises six 60-minute programmes that follow his travels through the Indian sub-continent, to discover the origins of dishes, ingredients and spices.
In the fourth episode of ‘Rick Stein’s India’, which airs tomorrow at 9pm on BBC2, Rick goes in search of the perfect chicken korma in Lucknow.
The author at number two in the top 10 list of best sellers is Mary Berry, the celebrated judge of BBC hit show ‘The Great British Bake Off’. Her book is called ‘Mary Berry’s Cookery Course: a step-by-step masterclass in home cooking’.
The third spot is held by Jamie Oliver’s ‘Jamie’s 15-Minute Meals,’ which is followed by ‘Paul Hollywood’s Bread’, written by Paul Hollywood, the artisan baker and Mary’s fellow judge on ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
Next at number five is ‘The Hairy Bikers’ Great Curries’ by hirsute TV twosome Si King and Dave Myers.
And at number eight is ‘Sunshine on a Plate’ by Shelina Permalloo. Last year more than 6.5 million viewers watched Shelina triumph in the final of BBC cookery series ‘MasterChef,’ inspiring legions of home cooks to try out her spicy Mauritian recipes at home. Mauritius is a melting pot of cultures and Shelina’s food reflects that, encompassing Creole, French, Indian, African, British and Chinese influences.
