Robert Welch Designs celebrates double win

Robert Welch Designs has won GOOD DESIGN 2016 Awards for two of its product ranges.

The Awards are given annually by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design to honour ‘the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product, and graphic designs produced around the world’.

Entries are judged by a jury of design professionals and industry specialists. The emphasis is on: ‘quality, design of the highest form, function, and aesthetics’ that are ‘a standard beyond ordinary consumer products and graphics’.

The Gloucestershire-based housewares manufacturer’s Oblique Bathroom Accessories range and Scribe Desk Accessories range received the accolades.

The judges described Oblique Bathroom Accessories as featuring ‘a distinctively angled shape that complements any style of bathroom’. The accessories, which come gift boxed, are made from polished 18/10 stainless steel. They are: a soap dish, tumbler, mirror, toothbrush holder, toilet brush & holder and toilet roll holder.

Scribe Desk Accessories were praised for ‘combining simple profiles with tactile form’. Made from 18/10 stainless steel, and featuring a mirror-polished finish, the range comprises a pen pot, paperweight, small lidded pot and tablet stand.

The ranges were selected by the 66th GOOD DESIGN jury from more than 3,000 entries from 46 nations.

Both were designed in-house by the Robert Welch design team. Managing director Rupert Welch said: “We’re thrilled that our products have been recognised. It’s an honour to see different categories of design being appreciated and recognised by a panel of true design enthusiasts and experts.”

“This year’s award-winning products are a real team effort and represent the perfect cross-section of innovation and aesthetics.”
