Sales and profits up at Selfridges

Selfridges drove profits up by a third to £65m in the year to January 31 2007, while sales rose 11% to £597m.

The company operates two stores in Manchester and one in Birmingham along with its flagship department store in London’s Oxford Street, and says all four are trading profitably.

Selfridges is due soon to unveil its most expensive project ever – a £10m, 19,000sq ft luxury gift department in the Oxford Street store, to be called The Wonder Room.
