Simon Maghnagi, business development manager of housewares supplier Forma House, is in training to take part in the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday April 26.

He will participate in the long-distance running event in support of Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people which offers year-round education, employment, housing and well-being services. The charity also runs Crisis at Christmas, which offers food, warmth, companionship and vital services to homeless people over the Christmas period.
Simon said: “I had always wanted to do something for the homeless over Christmas and back in 2008 I discovered the incredible work of Crisis. I signed up as a volunteer for five days and it proved such a rewarding experience that I’ve done so ever since. To know that in a small way, I’m doing something to benefit others, is an amazing feeling. And this year I’ve decided to take things a step further, by volunteering to run the marathon for Crisis – all 26.2 miles of it!”
So far Simon has raised nearly £750 of his £2000-plus target and is inviting the housewares industry to support him in his mission. Donations can be made via his Just Giving Page at www.justgiving.com/Simon-Maghnagi
Simon and the Forma Team also took the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Crisis at the recent Home show in London. Supported by the show organisers, the Forma Team talked to buyers about Simon’s marathon run and the work of Crisis in general. “The reaction and generosity from everybody has been incredible,” Simon commented.
