Best sellers within these ranges were strawberries (up 34%), Italian aperitif Aperol (up 70%), and rose wine (up 54%).

Other food and drink seeing a weather-related boost included barbecue meats (up 34%), deli foods (up 13%), ice cream (up 14%), and ‘food to go’ products (up 14%).

Loraine added: “English wine week started on Saturday (May 27), and more people than ever have been choosing a home-grown bottle to celebrate. Sales of our range of English wines were up by 93% last week compared with last year.”
