The cactus craze is coming

Forget about the flamingo, this summer everyone is set to go crazy over cacti, according to Debenhams.

The retailer has revealed that the plants, that grow  in many hot, dry parts of the world, were the inspiration for some of its Spring/Summer 2017 homeware range created by Ben de Lisi.

Ben is an American born fashion designer based in London, well known for his collections with the high street department store chain.

Ben said: “From my many trips to Chile, I always remark and am thrilled to see the most beautiful and majestic cacti. Their shapes and forms are playful yet strong, and each one seems to have a personality and shade of green of its own.”

He continued: “I introduced the cactus image into parts of my Spring/Summer 2017 homeware range because the images bring me to wide open spaces, dry comforting sunshine and the most diverse landscapes – the perfect motif to inject a sense of summer into the home.

“Also, I think the cactus image works as fun prints as well as useful accessories, such as trivets, dish towels, counter protectors, and wood block sculptures. It’s a talking point for sure, and brings a smile while you cook.”
