Üutensil set to make Ambiente debut

Independent kitchen product design brand üutensil is preparing to exhibit at Ambiente for the first time as a stand-alone brand.

The brand’s previous appearances at the trade show, which takes place this year from February 10 to February 14 in Frankfurt, were alongside one of its European distributors.

Üutensil founder and designer Gavin Reay described the move as “very exciting” for the London-based company. He said: “We have started to see significant increase in our international business so it made perfect sense to position ourselves at the heart of that market, and at the key international show in the calendar.

“We understand too that a lot of UK buyers – nationals and independents – make the trip and in this, the year that the UK is the show’s partner country, the timing seemed right.”

The company isn’t about to take its focus away from UK retailers though and has been working closely with distributor PHA KitchEssentials.

Last year saw the brand scoop the ‘Best Kitchen or Household Product’ Gold in the annual awards run by consumer magazine ‘House Beautiful’ 2016 for its Skåler weighing balance spoon.

Both Skåler and the brand’s Stirr automatic pan stirrer (itself a prestigious Red Dot design award winner) were chosen by the organiser of the Ideal Home Show at Christmas to feature in its Ideal Smart Home, one of the biggest attractions at the event.

The five-day consumer exhibition ran from November 23 to November 27 at Olympia in London.
