Wilton showcased a variety of its specialist cake decorating products at the fourth annual Handmade Fair.
Billed as ‘the ultimate creative day out’, the Fair is a consumer show produced by TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp, star of series including Channel 4’s ‘Kirstie’s Homemade Home’ and ‘Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas’.
The event was held from September 15 to September 17 at Hampton Court Palace in the Surrey town of Richmond Upon Thames. It aims to bring together Britain’s best handmade products, craft supplies, and artisan foods, and invites ‘lovers of all things unique, bespoke and handmade to come and join in the action’.
Throughout the proceedings, Wilton national account demonstrator Sonya Gray hosted daily floral cupcake workshops in the Grand Makes tent, showing her skills to over 600 visitors in total
Sonya said: “The idea behind each of our 30-minute workshops was to let the audience learn how to decorate stunning floral cupcakes using just a piping bag and one decorating tip. We had some fantastic engagement with the people who came along – and they went home with some amazing cupcake skills.”
The products used in the demos were the Wilton Colour Right Performance System (to colour your own icing; in this case, orange and pink) and the 12in disposable Piping Bag and decorating tip 104.
These last two items were also for sale in the tent of sponsor retailer Hobbycraft, alongside the WIlton Colour Swirl cupcake decorating set and the 8 Colours Icing Set.
Reviewing the show, Kirsty commented: “Thank you to all the visitors, stallholders, sponsors, partners and volunteers that helped make The Handmade Fair the wonderful event that we all know and love. Join us next year for another weekend of famous faces, hands-on making, shopping for beautiful handmade products – and all the delicious food and drink you can manage!”
The next Handmade Fair will be held from May 11 to May 13 at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire.
