German trade fair Ambiente hosted a total of 4,811 exhibitors from 94 countries, who presented their wares across 328,500sq m to a record number of international visitors.

The event, held in Frankfurt from February 13 to February 17, welcomed a total of 135,000 buyers from 152 countries. Of these, 53% came from outside Germany (compared with 51% in 2014) -more than ever before.
The top ten visitor nations after Germany were Italy, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Spain, the USA, Switzerland, China, Turkey and Poland. There was an increase in the number of visitors from European markets such as Denmark, France, Portugal and Spain. Above-average increases were also noted in the number of visitors from the Middle East and Asia, especially China and India. Due to the prevailing political situation, there were, as expected, fewer visitors from Russia and the Ukraine. Compared with last year, the degree of visitor satisfaction with the fair rose by 1% to 97%: the highest level ever.
Detlef Braun, member of the executive board of show organiser Messe Frankfurt, said: “Ambiente is the world’s leading trade fair for the consumer goods market and this year’s edition was more international than ever before. The standard of visitors was outstanding. Despite the challenging economic and political climate, the indicators in Germany and worldwide are pointing to ‘consume’.”
Ambiente 2016 will be held from February 12 to February 16 in Frankfurt.
