Independent housewares and hardware chain Lawsons will celebrate 30 years in Totnes later this month, having opened the branch in 1979.

Lawsons celebrates 30 years

The business is marking the occasion with a celebration day on May 23 offering 20% off throughout the store for one day only.

Totnes was the firm’s second shop and was opened by John and Jennifer Lawson, parents of the current md Liz Lawson. However, founder Tom Lawson opened the first store in 1904. There are now four stores in Tavistock, Totnes, Plymouth and Ivybridge.

Totnes has always been one of our best stores,” said md Liz Lawson. “We get tremendous support from local people and the store is always buzzing with activity. I would personally like to thank all those customers who have supported us. Listening to what [they] want is the key to our success. Our staff in Totnes are fantastic, we could not have achieved as much as we have without them. We are all looking forward to the next decade.”
