Stainless steel volume and value up

Television cookery programmes are helping to ensure the continuing buoyant performance of stainless steel cookware.

Stainless steel volume and value up

According to GfK, the sector saw an increase in both volume and value in the year to March 2010, up 6.5% to 5.3m units and 3.7% to £49.5m.

GfK says that competitive retail pricing together with the multitude of programmes and publications dedicating to cooking have arguably been the key factors driving the market.

January 2010 enjoyed the predicted post-Christmas uplift in sales for the sector, up 21.8% in value over the same month in 2008.
