John Lewis’ has revealed that its summer Clearance, which kicked off last Thursday was “the best summer Clearance launch for Home”.

The department store group generated sales of £87m last week (to June 28), up 8% on the year and strong compared to the 2013 summer Clearance launch. In terms of channels, both department stores and johnlewis.com performed well.
Home had a stand-out week with strong performances in furniture and textiles driven by Special Buy and Reduced to Clear demand, while sales of small electricals increased up 15%.
John Lewis buying director of fashion Meg Lustman said: “Sales this week will be driven by continued Clearance activity.”
